I have been working with children and theatre since 1992 and just love it. I also particularly like introducing children to various works of literature and to emphasize the process of theatre which, to me, is oftentimes more significant than the performance itself. Many years ago, while teaching at The Valley School, I directed a night of theatre with scenes from Aristophanes’ “Frogs”, Charles Marowitz’s “A Macbeth” and Nissim Ezekiel’s “Night of a Scorpion”. It struck me then that children take to great texts and profound ideas like fish to water: intuitively and with much delight. So in 2000 I started Theatre Lab, for my then 3 year old daughter Zui and her friends. It was meant to be a year long and somewhat heavy duty theatre workshop for children. Since its inception it has grown and is now divided into a Saturday session for younger children and Trinity Thursday which is for senior Theatre Lab students who are now taking exams in speech and drama.
